Life Fitness introduces Signature Series selectorized strength line

Premier line combines advanced industrial design with company’s hallmark superior ergonomics and durability

NEW YORK – April 24, 2003 – Life Fitness, the leading manufacturer of a full line of cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, introduced its Signature Series selectorized strength line today at the Club Industry East convention. It is the premium Life Fitness-branded selectorized line and is a direct result of the company’s integrated strength philosophy to offer equipment to meet all users’ needs.

The Signature Series is designed for exercisers of all fitness levels. It is approachable and easy to use, so it will appeal to beginning exercisers, yet it also is manufactured with superior ergonomics and durability – a hallmark of Life Fitness’ cardiovascular and strength-training products – so it will meet the demands of advanced exercisers.

“Our goals were to create a line with features that make the products unintimidating and easy to use, and to integrate biomechanical improvements that would be appreciated by enthusiasts,” said Greg Highsmith, senior business director, strength at Life Fitness. “Complete with an inviting design and our traditional high-quality components, the line will be a terrific tool to help facilities attract and retain members and set them apart from the competition.”

Inviting Design and Ease of Use

Each unit in the series has custom tubing shapes, contoured cushions and a lower profile, which combine to create a clean, contemporary look that is engaging to exercisers.

The integrated incremental weight system allows users to increase the weight in 5-pound increments. Gas-assisted seat and pad adjustments are physically easier to use, and clearly marked adjustment handles simplify the set-up process.

All pieces in the Signature line have instructional placards with simple visuals indicating proper form and muscle groups targeted, resulting in a shorter learning curve. Full rear shrouds cover the weight stacks and add to the distinctive look (full front shrouds are optional). Facilities may select from seven standard frame and 10 standard upholstery color options.

Superior Biomechanics and Durability

The units are engineered with superior biomechanics to ensure movements are comfortable and natural to the exerciser, eliminating unwanted pressure to the joints. “We took the best biomechanical elements from our well-received Pro Series and Hammer Strength products and integrated them into the new Signature Series,” stated Highsmith. “We also manufactured these pieces with the most durable, high-quality components, so they will stand up to rigorous use.”

Products, Price and Warranty

The initial 10 Signature units – Abdominal Crunch, Biceps Curl, Chest Press, Lat Pulldown, Leg Extension, Seated Leg Curl, Seated Leg Press, Seated Row, Shoulder Press and Triceps Press – will be available in the third quarter of 2003, with an additional eight pieces to be unveiled throughout the year. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price per piece ranges from $2,999 to $5,199.

The line has a 10-year minimum warranty on frames, five years on integral bearings, guide rods, pulleys and weight plates, one year on cables and grips and 90 days on upholstery and any items not specified.
